As Guidance Officers we support teaching and learning so that all students achieve academic success, and develop life skills through the acquisition of academic, career, and personal/social competencies, which will prepare them for meaningful participation in a diverse, changing world.
Our aim is to reach out to students and support them in attaining their educational and career goals. Our focus is on success in the learning and careers journey of all students, not just those with high support needs.
Our services include, but are not limited to:
- Counselling and case management
- Comprehensive support and referral services that optimise students' access and engagement in educational programs
- Consultation with student and family around mental health concerns, and continued liaison with agencies around student supports at school
- Assessment and individualised student support
- Recommendations and advice to students, teachers and parents concerning educational, behavioural, career development, mental health and family issues
- Individual career pathways guidance including Senior Education and Training (SET) planning, QTAC and University liaison and future pathway options.
