Marsden State High School has been hosting international students since 2011, with students welcomed from East Asia. Students are provided with the support required to successfully integrate into our school community.
The program we offer is short term “Study Tour Programs”, this programs allows students to integrate into our school community where we provide a diverse range of ESL support for reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in the classroom. International students learn about our Australian culture throughout their time with us.
Our International students reside in either a school arranged homestay accommodation with a local family or with their study group. Homestay students are provided with high standard accommodation and have the opportunity to experience the cultural diversity of the Australian lifestyle. Homestay families are inducted and trained by the school to provide students with a safe and caring environment that provides both cultural and social activities to assist with cultural integration.
The cultural diversity created by the International students’ program is beneficial for the school and our community on both a local and global level. It fosters the development of the students’ understanding of a global community in an ever shrinking modern world. Students are encouraged to learn about themselves, connect with others and make a difference in our world. It is our vision to educate individuals to become productive, forward minded citizens in the global community.
