The first of its kind, Marsden Tech Academy is our Innovative Technology Hub where students explore Drones, Robotics, Esports, Virtual Reality, and STEM related disciplines. With over 75% of future careers requiring use of technology and STEM related skills, our program provides students with 21st century skills required for their chosen future careers.
Our Tech Academy program is continuing to grow, there are a number of programs that students can elect to join and participate in by joining different Teach Academy Teams and Competitions. Our current programs include the following:
Esports
Games played: Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, Rocket League, Just Dance, FIFA 2K22, NBA 2K22, Warsow, BombSquad, Valorant and League of Legends.
There are multiple competitions and opportunities for students to test their skills. One of which is our very own SEQeL. SEQeL – South East QLD School Multi-Esports League has been developed by Marsden State High School which provides inclusive engagement and opportunities in multiple Esports games both in an intra-school format and a face-to-face showcase event.
Drones
Experience the excitement of being on an actual racing team while also applying their classroom learning to real life with hands on, engaging and innovative competition - DRL (Drone Racing League) developed by Marsden State High School.
Robotics
Multiple competitions and challenges open to students in the area of Robotics. These include but are not limited to Vex, RoboRave and Lego League.
Training
Training for all aspects of the Tech Academy encompasses preparing for tournaments, communications, leadership, team cohesion and motivation. Tech Academy athletes continually train by practicing their skills on video games, drones and robotics which trains their mind, body, and reflexes. Training occurs weekly or fortnightly depending on the Team.
External competitions
Lego League - Friendly competition is at the heart of the Challenge, as teams of students ages 9-16 engage in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering - building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game.
VEX Robotic – A global robotic competition where students use their design, coding and problem solving skills to create remote and autonomous robots to compete with and against other teams in new an exciting games each year.
SEQEL – A new schools based eSports competition between South East Queensland schools, with students competing in various games such as Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Fifa, NBA, and Rocket League.
