Our school

Our proud history - Marsden State High School has been operating since 1987 and has a long and proud tradition of providing excellent quality public education. Since opening in 1987, the school has grown to over 1800 students. While the school is one of the largest in Queensland, it has a strong sense of community and is able to offer individual attention and diverse opportunities for participation.  

The biggest advantage of Marsden State High School is that we can offer a comprehensive range of subjects and activities that smaller schools may find harder to achieve. Marsden State High School produces the highest possible academic, sporting and vocational education outcomes for a full range of students and has an excellent record of success in students attaining tertiary entrance places/offers.

  • Vocational Excellence – pioneering industry qualifications in Construction, Manufacturing and Engineering since 1987.

Consistently over 97% of Year 12 Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre applicants receive an offer from Universities and TAFEs, while a large number of students undertake and complete school based traineeships and apprenticeships.


Marsden State High School Foundation Year – 1987

Marsden State High School has a tradition of strong school leadership. The school’s foundation Principal Mr Don Whitehouse opened the school in 1987 and along with foundation teachers, parents and students developed a strong school culture which still stands today.
