Student wellbeing support partnership with Griffith University

The Life Coaches (The Guidance Team) at Marsden State High School have partnered with Griffith University School of Human Services and Social Work to provide better support to our students and families in addressing the social determinants of health which impact upon learning and educational outcomes.

Social Work students (Social Worker Interns) work as part of the student services team at Marsden, and focus on improving the quality of life and developing the potential of individuals, families and communities.

Last year popular support included individual wellbeing support for students coping with the grief of loss of a family member; as well as for new students struggling to fit in to Marsden SHS and make new friends.

The Tea and Toast group program led by our social worker intern Chelsea was particularly popular with girls wanting to make new friends and form new social connections. The group met several times a week in the breaks and was the chance for girls to meet, greet, tend, and befriend. This program is back this year by W
