Hello – My name is Helen and I am the School Based Youth Health Nurse at Marsden State High School.  The Youth Health Nurse works with the school community on issues that may affect the health and wellbeing of young people and the community as a whole.  Young people learn best and are able to manage their life if they are healthy – physically and emotionally.  I am available for individual consultations with students every day, to talk about anything that affects health and wellbeing.  This covers a broad range of issues such as:
·         Healthy eating and physical activity
·         Relationships
·         Feeling unhappy or stressed
·         Personal and family problems
·         Smoking, alcohol and other drugs
·         Sexual health
·         Growth and development
All consultations are voluntary and confidential.  Parents and other members of the school community are also very welcome to contact me during these hours if there are issues of a health nature with students that you would like to discuss or for general information.  Please call me via the school administration 07 3299 0555.
