Marsden State High School has been approved for the development of an innovative, leading edge educational Trade Training Centre facility to be located on campus. Developed and operated in conjunction with significant industry partners.

These partners are:
1. Housing Industry Association (HIA) Apprenticeships Brisbane/Gold Coast
2. All Trades QLD
3. Australian Apprenticeship Alliance – Scott Cam
4. Plantation Homes (HIA)
5. Trussmaster (HIA)
6. Kanga
7. Apollo – Youth Training centre
8. Glenford Tools
9. Stoddarts
10. Delfin Lend Lease – Woodlands project
11. Dewalt
12. Construction skills Queensland

The Marsden State High School Trade Training Centre will facilitate a range of educational experiences and outcomes for students from Marsden State High School and surrounding schools. The Trade Training Centre will also cater for the wider community with after school and night time short courses, trade step out programs and equipment licensing eg. Blue cards and Business Administration short course, to enhance the employability of members within the lower socio economic community of Logan. These educational experiences will be matched to local industry needs to provide students with a range of vocational experiences including work experience, structured work placements, and School-based New Apprenticeships.

The Training Trade Centre will be unique in that it will be fitted with industry production lines (equipment) funded by industry partners. Students will gain both theoretical and on the job training within the school environment. This will be underpinned by quality strategies to enhance learning and vocational experiences.

The Logan region is one of Queensland’s most rapidly expanding with substantial residential population growth over a relatively short period of time. This growth is predicted to continue and will be stimulated further through infrastructure developments proposed in the Queensland Government South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan and Program 2005 – 2016 for example Delfin estate projects in our area. Marsden SHS has established strong industry links with Delfin.
