SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR
STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

Marsden State High School through its Special Education Program, provides support and programs for students who have been diagnosed and verified by Education Queensland as having an Intellectual Impairment (II), Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech Language Impairment (SLI), Physical Impairment (PI), Visual Impairment (VI), Hearing Impairment (HI).
Each student is assigned to a special education teacher, who acts as their case manager for the year. This person liaises with classroom teachers, students and parents, on appropriate teaching strategies and adjustments that are required to class work and assessment items.
Additionally, the SEP provides a number of programs that are available to students with disabilities in various year levels. These programs are conducted in smaller class settings within the SEP environment.
Transport Assistance for Students with Disabilities
Some students with a disability may be eligible for transport assistance (ie bus pass, conveyance allowance or taxi/minibus service).
