Goals:
Enable students to acquire the knowledge, skills and confidence to make a positive difference in their communities through investing in learning opportunities for active, empowered and informed citizenship.
To place the informed, empowered student at the centre of the reform of school services, creating a dynamic and responsive new relationship between teachers and students.
“‘Education either functions as an instrument which is used to facilitate the integration of people into the logic of the present system and bring about conformity to it, or it becomes the “practice of freedom”, the means by which young men and women deal critically and creatively with reality and discover how to participate in the transformation of the world’ (Shaull et al. 1972 p14).
